no actually don’t call asian characters snakes either lol. don’t call asians in general, not just characters, rats or snakes. honestly? stop comparing people of colour to animals altogether. no matter what animal you choose, there will be racial connotations that you might be unaware of. plus its quite literally dehumanizing.
i’m only speaking on the asian aspect because i am asian. we were (and still are) often compared to snakes. a big comment that i got growing up was that my eyes were ‘snake’ or ‘cat’ shaped. asians are seen as something Exotic from the Unknown East which is orientalist and dehumanizing. because of this, asian women that do not fit the sweet and submissive asian woman stereotype are called coldhearted, cruel, and unfeeling. there is also the racist idea that asian immigrants are stealing high paying jobs, which plays into the “all asians are doctors” stereotype and is called being a ‘snake in the grass’, and the list goes on. in case you are unaware of why comparing jewish people to reptiles is bad, here is a post made by a jewish person that can explain it better than i can. https://thekosheraisle.tumblr.com/post/181700938520/could-you-please-explain-the-whole
i don’t blame you for not considering this, most people aren’t aware of their own biases until it is pointed out to them and if anything this is an opportunity for learning. but if you are going to make a post about the fact a specific term is racist, don’t just give a substitute for it
